Back in the U.S. of A

Here we are back in Ferndale at Cedars RV Resort.  Our original plan for this long weekend was to hop in the car and drive down to the Oregon Coast.  Instead, Cedars let us know they had a cancellation and so we came down here in the RV.  Apart from having to go home here and there for meetings and babysitting, I will be staying down here for 3 weeks.  Gerry is taking some of his holidays too which will be great.

I have been home for almost 3 weeks from our last camping trip to Bridal Falls and in that time managed to get lots of projects finished around the home and, of course, finished off some quilts.

My first chaired guild meeting went really well except that I ran 15 minutes over the allotted time - our agenda was huge with so many items to cover.  I was bowled over at all the wonderful emails I received after our meeting from our members and the number of people who came up to me at the meeting itself to offer their best wishes and tell me how much they enjoyed the meeting.  It made me feel very good to hear their kind comments.

Well, back to today.  It has been a leisurely day here in the rv with us sleeping in this morning and then having a lovely brunch that Gerry prepared in late morning.  We ran some errands in town afterwards and then came back to the rv for a cold beer and settled down to some reading outside.

Steak on the barbie with a lovely fresh salad and corn-on-the-cob is on the menu for dinner tonight.

Yep, I have nothing to complain about!!! ;-)

What a life!!!

This is the life ... no worry, no stress - but hey no quilting either ... maybe not so good! LOL

A Relaxing Day!

No rushing around today which has been lovely!  I did have my annual eye check-up this afternoon but apart from that I top quilted my second stack 'n whack quilt on my B-Line and played in my quilt studio for a couple of hours.  I am ready at last to do some more work on my "Under the Sea" art quilt I started awhile ago.

Tomorrow is our monthly guild meeting and the first meeting for me to chair as Co-President.  I am really looking forward to it.  It promises to be a full but fun afternoon.

After the guild meeting, I am attending an "in-betweens" class called "O Canada" - there are 3 different scenes of Canada all paper pieced.  They will be mounted in frames when finished.  I have been really looking forward to taking this class tomorrow.

The class is from 3-5 p.m. with a quick stop at home for some dinner and back again to the evening guild meeting at 7 p.m.  I can be a spectator at this one!

So a busy but fun day tomorrow playing catchup with the ladies and enjoying yet another quilting class made available by our guild.  Guess I had better get to bed and get some sleep! LOL

Summer is Back!

We can't complain anymore about summer not being here ... it is gorgeous outside with temperatures in the mid-70's and a gentle breeze blowing through the house.

I decided today was the day to paint the front door.  I had bought the paint a few months back and never got around to painting it.  The colour we chose is sundried tomato.  We decided to jazz it up a bit and bought a brass kickplate for the bottom of the door and new hardware.  It looks like a different house!

While the paint was drying in between coats I managed to get the quilt top finished for my second stack 'n whack.  I am going to put it on the B-Line tomorrow and top quilt it so that I can take it in to the guild meeting for show 'n tell on Wednesday.

Gerry and I have decided to head off down the Oregon Coast next weekend as it is the long weekend ... Civic Holiday in BC.  We probably will not take the rv this trip but be foot loose and fancy free and stay in hotels and have someone else cook our meals.  We are going to check out some spots recommended to us by a friend though for when we do head down there for a longer stay in the next little while in our rv.

Two of Keisha's "kitty kaps" fell off or rather she bit them off, I think! LOL  So another two must go on today.  They really do the trick nicely and she seems to be used to them now which is a good thing! ;-)

Twinkle Toes!

One of our kitties, Keisha, has taken a fancy to scratching at our carpets in spite of having several scratching items throughout the house.  I could never have a cat declawed so found the next best thing ... kitty caps.  These caps are easy to apply over the nails and as the nails grow these will come off.

The caps come in all sorts of colours ... I bought a sparkly pink colour for Keisha this time around.  I applied these caps about 4 days ago and she is now used to them resigning herself to the fact that they are staying on! ;-)

A Lovely Sunny Day with Brayden

What fun my grandson and I had today.  We ran lots of fun errands this morning and I bought one of the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for Brayden which he couldn't seem to put down for the rest of the day!

We went to Pizza Hut for a nice lunch which was Brayden's choice ... these kiddies and their appetites ... Mamma Mia!

After lunch we headed over to the new mini golf centre and played golf for about an hour and a half - Brayden beat me!!!  I was busy taking photos so that's my excuse! LOL

Here are some pics from our fun day together today.

Where is our Summer?

My goodness, this weather is more like early fall instead of the middle of summer! ;-(

This morning I had to play catchup with guild emails for a couple of hours - so much for getting the meeting agenda out early for the members - there have been so many additions to the agenda, that it looks nothing like it set out to look like! LOL

The rest of the day until mid-afternoon was spent doing housework ... really don't like that job much but I love a nice, clean house so it's a necessary evil !

Tomorrow is my grandson, Brayden's day with Nana ... hmmmm - wonder what mischief we will manage to get into!

Ribs are on a slow bake and I've just made a cup of tea and going into my quilt studio for 2-3 hours ... it's all good! ;-)

The Sun is Back!

After a few dismal days without seeing and feeling the warmth of the sun, it is back!  Hooray!

This morning I met a few of my friends at a local coffee shop where we enjoyed gabbing for about an hour.  I ran some errands afterwards - Costco being one of them - ouch!  Always an expensive outing - not because of the prices, on the contrary, but because there are so many great deals! LOL

This afternoon I have been catching up with guild work and putting together the agenda for the first meeting I will be chairing this month as Co-President.  So many things to remember - I know if I forget something, there will be someone there to remind me! LOL

I have finished my stack and whack quilt and am very pleased with how it turned out.  After the doorway challenge art quilt I made, I needed something easy to play with and this did the trick nicely.

Yesterday hubby and I took a drive across the border to a thrift shop in Bellingham where I found some fabulous 100% wool jackets and skirts to rip apart and use for my handwork in wool felt.  Everything was 50% off so I came away from there feeling like I had just won the lottery! ;-)

More Camping Fun

This is the last of the photos from this camping trip out - stay tuned though, there are lots more fun trips planned for this summer! ;-)
Preparing the candy bags for all our little camping visitors!

Bunnies, Bunnies and more Bunnies!

Bridal Park Waterslides

A favourite place to visit ...

What's Camping without Marshmallows and Sparklers?

The kiddies loved roasting their marshmallows - even Uncle Norm got in on the act! LOL

Happy Birthday Canada!

While we were camping in Bridal Falls, we took the girls into Chilliwack for some Canada Day fun and here are the fun pics from that day.
