Blessed Are They!

I love this poem and wanted to share it with you all.  I'm afraid I don't know its origin.

Blessed are they who understand
My faltering step and palsied hand.

Blessed are they who know that my ears
 today
Must strain to catch the things they say.

Blessed are they who seem to know
That my eyes are dim and my thoughts are slow.

Blessed are they who looked away
When coffee spilled at the table today.

Blessed are they with a cheery smile
Who stopped to chat for a little while.

Blessed are they who never say,
“You’ve told that story twice today.”

Blessed are they who know the ways
To bring back memories of yesterdays.

Blessed are they who make it known
That I’m loved, respected, and not alone.

A Quilting Day

WOW ... I can't believe our annual quilt guild's annual retreat is only a month away!  There are several great things to do in preparation for it - making a placemat for our secret sister, our name badges and a challenge block we each have a choice to make -- then one lucky lady will win them all and turn them into a lovely quilt.  Our theme this year is Western, which reminds me I have got to find a cowboy hat and some western type clothes! LOL

I have made the block and today have been working on the placemat.  I will post a photo afterwards - my secret sister does not know about my blog so no fear of her seeing it.

We had our guild meeting yesterday and it was a lot of fun as always.  Our guest speaker is a wonderful quilt artist by the name of Donna Bray-Zakreski.  Her work is so gorgeous - she uses all types of media!  I am fortunate to be able to take an all day workshop with her on Saturday here in Langley.  I can hardly wait.

Today is Thursday and my day to pick up Emmy and Lauryn from school and then home here for dinner.  I promised both the girls that Nana would take them to the recreation centre and enrol them for skating after school.  Skating starts on October 24th and will be once a week for 5 weeks.  If they enjoy it, I will sign them up for the next level.  They are so excited about it!!

Another Great Weekend!

We lucked out this weekend and were able to enjoy our little Emmy and Lauryn for two days and one night.  They are always such good girls for Nana and Poppa and inevitably they say or do something to make us chuckle!!

On Saturday we took them and Cousin Brayden to Crescent Beach where they enjoyed terrorizing the baby crabs - Nana insisted upon them letting them go again!  We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch on the beach too - it was lovely and sunny and just perfect for that!  We tried kite flying but the wind wasn't cooperating this day ... BUT it sure did the next day - wait until you see the pics!!!

We bought a new kite ... a big one ... the wind was so strong.  Hilarious ... look at the expression on Emmy's face!  Priceless!

Enjoying the Oregon Coast

Gerry and I took advantage of a few days break and travelled down to the Oregon Coast in our rv.  We stayed in Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria, Oregon ... it is massive!  This is one of the nicest state parks I have seen ... very clean and lovely and shady with beautiful tall trees and some nice secluded spots.  We took several day trips and went to Cannon Beach and Tillamook (did the Tillamook cheese tour which was fun!)

It was a really wonderful relaxing 10 days away together.  We even bought some lovely new kites too!

Homespun Quilts in Cannon Beach ... hmmm yummy!

Hmmmm Yummy!

Someone loves Auntie Carol's cookies!!!  Too cute!

Words I Choose to Live By ...

There comes a point in your life when you realize .....

Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore ...
And who always will,
So ...... don't worry about people from your past,
there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future!

A Sewing Day with the lil' Ones

Another fun day it was yesterday.  The girls love playing in Nana's quilt studio.  They are growing up to be phenomenal little quilters!

Emmy is making a baby quilt for Mommy's friend who is expecting a baby girl soon and Lauryn was cutting out the fabric and armholes for two little jackets for her big bear.  Too cute!

The girls have their own big special basket of fabric that I have put aside for them.

Playing in Nana's quilt studio is probably their most favourite thing they do with me!  I am so proud of them - they are, after all, only 6 and 8 years of age!! ;-)
