Summer Fun and the Livin' is Easy!

Still away in Bridal Falls and just finishing up my 3 weeks here.  It has been very relaxing and lots of fun as we have seen all 9 of the grandkiddies up here at one time or another and some even staying with us for a few days.

The weather has been lovely and warm - a little too warm some days and I have had to resort to putting on the air conditioning which has been such a blessing!  The kiddies have loved the waterslides and the pool and have kept cool while having loads of fun with Nana. ;-)

Gerry and I went to see a house that is for sale in Lindell Beach in Cultus Lake a couple of days ago ... I love this area!  It is just like the Okanagan (which as you know, I absolutely love) and only a fraction of the distance away from Langley and the family!  We are looking for a rancher with rv parking and a view.  Gerry is retiring in November so we are not in any rush ... we are thinking we will put our home on the market next spring and move sometime hopefully in the summertime.  Gerry and I are both on the case and scouring all possible avenues that would accommodate our needs.

My term as President of our local quilters' guild came to an end last month and my UFO's are thanking me.  Show and Tell at our monthly meetings will now allow me to show what I can accomplish with a few extra hours a week! LOL

Looking forward to having our grandson, Ozzy, come up this weekend and stay with Gerry and I.  It is Halloween in August here at the rv resort which is great fun to see the kiddies all dressed up.  Those who wish to participate hang a sign on their rv and the kiddies come a-knocking! ;-)

We will be packing up to go home on Sunday and won't be going out again in the rv until the end of August and then only for 2 weeks as we need to get back to plan our getaway to England/Morocco at the end of September.

I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by this year .... wow, the kiddies are already buying their back-to-school supplies!

All for now ...

Being a Nana ....

A picture is worth a thousand words ........

Quiltin' and RV'ing ...

Doing a little quilting while away in the rv ... perfect set up!

Spoiled for my birthday

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago while I was away in the rv in Ferndale, WA.  I had lots of visits from family and friends during my 3 week stay.  Two of my buddies came down to see me the day before my birthday and bought me these beautiful flowers.  They also spoiled me with strawberries and sponge cake, cherries and ice cream!  It was a lovely visit! ;-)

"Bessie" ... the new RV

Here she is at last ... our new rv.  It is a 2013 Heartland Big Country and measures in at a whooping 41'.  She has four slides, built-in vacuum, washer and dryer, fireplace etc. etc.  She is a beauty and will bring us many, many years of pleasure as we tour North America and Mexico in her!

We have only had one rv'ing trip out to Ferndale, WA. right now and have another trip out leaving tomorrow for 3 weeks to Bridal Falls.

Will post more photos of us rv'ing later.

Of course, Bessie needed something to tow her, so Daddio had to buy a new truck ... the 3/4 ton just didn't cut it so he now has this beauty ... a one ton Ford Power Stroke ... she loves that!!!! LOL

Such Fun at the Beach

On Thursday I took four of our little grand darlings to White Rock beach for a fun day of skimboarding, fish and chips and ice cream ... what a beautiful time we had!!!  How I love being a Nana!!!! ;-)

Summer is in full swing ....

I cannot believe that I have not posted since May ... I will be doing a lot better from hereonin as I now have a bit more time on my hands.

My one year co-president's term last year, followed by a one year term as President of our wonderful quilters' guild this year, has now come to an end and, of course, that means a lot more time that I will be able to devote to family, friends and, of course, my love of quilting and all those other hobbies I have acquired along the way! LOL

Wednesday was my last official meeting that I chaired with that being our AGM.  I gave a President's year-end message and afterwards was presented with this gorgeus basket of wonderful treasures!  I was totally overwhelmed and quite teary ... how very, very generous my dear quilting sisters were.  One of my friends actually wheeled the basket in saying it was too heavy to lift!!  How blessed I feel by the show of appreciation and generosity!! ;-)

This is what was inside this lovely basket !!

I am going to have so much fun enjoying all of these wonderful treasures! ;-)

A Busy but Fulfilling Life ....

Life sure is busy ... not complaining but I do wonder where all the days disappear to!

We recently came back after a wonderful trip to Toronto to see my dear brother-in-law and his wife and the "boys" although they aren't boys anymore being in their early 30's!  Truly an excellent visit!

May is shaping up to be such a busy month.  The CQA show is in just a few short days and is being held in Penticton this year.  Gerry and I were going to head there to the Okanagan in the rv but it is not here yet so we are staying at the Coast Convention Inn where the actual show is going to be held.

This month also sees our 10th year guild anniversary which is so exciting.  We have a wonderful committee of ladies who have been working tirelessly on putting on this special event for all of our members.

There are classes and workshops too that I have registered for which all go to make May a very busy but fun-filled month.

We were booked to go out on our first rv'ing trip to Ferndale on May 21st but that, unfortunately, will not happen as our brand new rv is just rolling off the line.  We are purchasing a 2013 Heartland Big Country.  We are so excited about our new rv as this was the model we fell in love with about a year and a half ago.  I know we will have scads of fun in this new home away from home as we made sure it had everything we needed for long distance travelling - even a washer and dryer!

Gerry is retiring in November and we can see ourselves having so much fun in our new rv travelling North America and down into Mexico for the winters.

All for now .... will send photos in next post. ;-)

Summer is Here !!!!

WOW ... the summer is here ... it reached 80 degrees today.

With summer comes spiffying up the gardens ... a big job and this year my daughter Traci is going to kindly give me a hand which I am eternally grateful for! ;-)

Can You Say Snow!!!

This was sent to us by a friend today who lives in Winnipeg.  I have to say that the buds are popping out here in beautiful British Columbia ... say what you like about the rain but ..............

Family Day ... A First Time Holiday for B.C.

Today was the first of many Family Day holidays our beautiful province of British Columbia will recognize!

To celebrate I took my granddaughter Lissy to buy the paint for her room this morning ... she chose a beautiful light shade of teal/seafoam green for her walls.  She has chosen black and white as her accent curtains and bedding.  I think it will look lovely and very modern for her ... she is 14 years old!  Alyssa made the honour roll at school and this is Nana and Poppa's way of saying "well done!"  I will be going over there on Wednesday and Thursday to paint her room for her.  She is so excited and keeps thanking me over and over!

Hubby and I took advantage of this B.C. holiday and drove across the border into the States today ... along with every other British Columbia it seemed.  It is at times like today with such horrendous border lineups that we are so glad to be Nexus cardholders!  While there was a little wait, it was nothing like the 2 hours that others had to wait!!

What would a trip down south be without shopping for fabric which was exactly what this gal HAD to do.  I would so love to keep the Canadian economy in full swing, but quite frankly with saving $20-25 on a gas fill-up and about $10-12 a metre on fabric - well, I have to shop where my money works the hardest for me!!

Gerry and I were able to enjoy a lovely lunch in Bellingham before doing a little grocery shopping and heading back home.

What a lovely way to spend Family Day with my dear hubby!  Life is good!

Painting Time Again!

This afternoon I received a call from my granddaughter, Lissy who is 14 years old.  She wanted to know what colour I thought she should repaint her bedroom ...

Yes, hubby and I went around and I ended up taking off the border in her room.  She is so delighted even with that but when I told her that I would help her repaint it, she was over the moon.

Lissy just made the Honour Roll at school this semester so I told her that I would redo her room for her, complete with new curtains, pillows - and - I'm sure there is a new quilt in the making somewhere in there! LOL

Lissy is so grateful, it does my heart good to be able to bless her in this way!! ;-)

A Special Quilt

In keeping with years gone by, our quilter's guild has undertaken a very special and meaningful project called Kourageous Kids.  This is done through the Children's Hospital in Vancouver, B.C.

The very special children in the Oncology Ward at Children's paint their beautiful pictures and then we turn them into their special works of art.  As you know from my previous posts, I take part in this every year.  These are tough quilts to work on but knowing the smile they will bring, makes it such a pleasure to make.

This is the quilt I have just finished for little Brandan ...

Before

After

Waaaay too long ....

Gosh ... here I promised to write on my blog on a more frequent basis - that was on October 22, 2012 - and here I am back!  Just a tad infrequent!! LOL

Life is so busy and the grandkiddies, guild, friends and hobbies keep me constantly on the move!  I am not complaining, but I wonder sometimes where the months go!!  January truly is quite a blur±! LOL

I have been able to finish up a lot of the projects I have had on the go ... my conscience just won't allow me to buy more goodies until I finish some of these UFO's up.

Here are some of the things I have finished over the last few months ...

Roses in a Window

Woodland Scene ... what fun this was to make.  Everything with the exception of the real moss and lichen was made by machine!

Celtic Knot

Sashiko Butterflies
Seahorse Double Applique

Giraffe Double Applique

Dragonfly Double Applique
A lady saw this on Facebook and had to buy it! ;-)
