Naughty Zoe

I can only imagine how much mischief these kitties get into when we are not here in the rv!!! LOL

A Little Bit of Quilting

Well, believe it or not after the eventful start to today, I did manage to get a little bit of quilting done in the cool of the afternoon and before the sun came out.  It has become overcast again now and I think that is it for the sun today.  The weekend though promises to be a nice sunny one which is great!

I love being away in the rv - there is only one problem though and that is that I miss my grandkiddies so much.  Thank goodness I have Skype and can see them and chat with them - and, of course, I am not too far away so can be home within a short time if the urge for a cuddle and kiss from them becomes "unbearable!" LOL

An Eventful Day!

Yesterday Gerry went for his annual eye examination and his optometrist told him that the surgery he had last June for a detached retina looked like it needed attention again.  So, bright and early this morning we left Ferndale, WA to head into the eye clinic at Vancouver General Hospital for a 7:40 appt.  After being examined by 3 specialists, it was determined that all was okay and that Gerry was to go back in 6 months time for a checkup.  Thank goodness that ended so well.

We left the rv this morning at about 6:15 and got back about 11:30 just in time for lunch! ;-)

After a cool start to today, the sun has decided to poke its head out and it is lovely outside.  The rv resort has cleared considerably after our Member's Appreciation Weekend - which was a lot of fun.  The weekend was finished off with a bbq on Sunday night.

A Sunny Sunday

What a lovely sunny day we have to enjoy.

We started off our morning with a pancake breakfast - another part of our Member's Appreciation Weekend.  It was a lot of fun meeting more new people and chatting.  We learn so much from these great people who have travelled to places I can only dream about until hubby retires!  First extended rv trip we plan to take when hubby retires is to take a few months to travel across Canada and back up through the U.S.  I can hardly wait.  One of the couples we were chatting to this morning have done this several times - it was wonderful to listen to their adventures!

A Fun Weekend!

Yesterday was another relaxing day away in the rv.  It was a bit chilly outside so I took advantage of that and set up my sewing machine inside and made a couple of tablecloths for the rv.  I usually don't set up the sewing machine until hubby heads home but he was engrossed in a good book and it was chilly outside - what can I say! LOL

Last night was our Member's dance and it was such a lot of fun.  We got to meet so many people we had not met before.  The band played the oldies - what a walk down memory lane.  It was great to get up on the dance floor and dance to the music ... we still have it! LOL

The Sun Came and the Rain Went!

We were all prepared to make the most of a rainy day but the sun has been shining brightly for most of the day.  It felt lovely to sit outside reading and soak up that beautiful sun.  It has been a long winter!

This weekend is our Member's Appreciation Weekend at Cedars.  The fun starts tonight when most of the members arrive and we gather around the community fire pit to meet with old friends and make new ones.  Tomorrow night is our dance and Holiday Trails has booked a band called The Replayzmentz.  Apparently they play at the Silver Reef, American Legion and other clubs around here.  The fun doesn't stop there as there is a pancake breakfast served on Sunday morning, followed by a meeting for the members a bit later on in the morning and then the hamburger cook-out for dinner.  It promises to be such a fun weekend.  Let's hope the sun keeps shining! ;-)

Here are some more photos I took around the rv resort.  It is not hard to relax in these surroundings.;-)

Healing!

"Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don't make the animals get better, they help the child get over it."

A dear friend sent me a page of how children view angels - this was one of the excerpts.  It made me think of my darling grandson, Austin, who recently said a teary goodbye to his kitty, Diesel.  Diesel was Austin's little companion for many, many years.  It was so heartbreaking to see how hard our little boy took it!  Austin told me the other day that it hurts just a tiny bit less each day ... Bless him!

Touches My Heart!

When we got back to the rv this evening, I placed a video call to two of our grandkiddies, Emma and Lauryn, on Skype.  This method of communication certainly bridges the gap and helps to ease Nana's soft ol' heart.  While chatting with Emma I could see that she was looking down but couldn't see what she was doing until she held up this sign.  How sweet and the result was misty eyes with Nana!

And, of course little sister has to get in on the act afterwards!! LOL

Back to Rain!

We are back in the rv again after a quick trip back across the line today and it is raining cats and dogs!

The guild meeting was a lot of fun today - it always seems so long in between guild meetings each month and it was great playing catch-up with everyone.  Denise - you are an absolute scream!  I didn't think I would be able to stop laughing at "Cam Wow" today!! LOL

After the guild meeting we were able to drop in and have a quick cup of tea with Briggy and to see the little girls.

I think rain is in the forecast tomorrow so readin' and relaxin' in the rv in front of the fireplace will be a welcome treat!  Rain or shine - it's all good livin' ;-)

Back Home for the Day!

We came back across the border today because I have a guild meeting this afternoon to attend.

It is the day of our guild nominations and I have been approached to run for Co-President of the Langley Quilters' Guild.  This will be a two-year term with me ascending to the Presidency next year.  The timing of this will work out perfectly as the end of my two year term will coincide with hubby retiring (hopefully) so I have very happily agreed to step up!  I have been a member of our quilting guild pretty much since the day it was formed and thoroughly enjoy all the activities  planned within the guild but most of all cherish the friendships I have made over all these years.

Every October our guild holds its annual retreat.  Last year two of my buddies and myself were the organizers and had such fun planning it.  This year it is being put together by another 3 gals with a western theme and I am looking forward to that too.  Better dig out those ol' cowboy boots and hat!! LOL

We have so much fun at our retreats and even get some quilting done over the 2 1/2 days! LOL  Here is a photo of me acting like a fool last year.  Hey ... you're a long time dead!! LOL

Cedars RV Resort

This is one of the lovely resorts that we can enjoy as Holiday Trails members.  They are all very nice.  Cedars is the only one located in the U.S. in Ferndale, Washington.  We come down here at least twice throughout the summer and spend the rest of the summer at the other resorts located around British Columbia.  Here are some photos of where we are right now ... it really is lovely and so peaceful!

Tuesday and the Livin' is Easy!

It's a little cooler today but no rain which is great - the sun is trying ever so hard to make an appearance!

After a nice relaxed breakfast, hubby and I drove into Bellingham and armed with lots of coupons, I paid a visit to one of my favourite stores - Joann's.  I have been looking for just the right fabric to finish off a quilt I am making and found exactly what I was looking for within 5 minutes of being in the store. ;-)  All the quilting books were on sale too and I scored some awesome deals on three different books.  One is called Layered, Tattered and Stitched, A Fabric Art Workshop by Ruth Rae and is calling me! LOL  The other package is Kim Schaefer's Calendar Quilts - full size patterns and instructions for wallhangings for each month ... they are so adorable.  The third book is called Where Women Create and looks so enticing.  I am delighted with all three books and can hardly wait to delve into them while away here in the rv.

Another Gorgeous Day!

Hubby and I have enjoyed yet another sunny and relaxing day in the rv today.  We went into the little town of Ferndale this morning and browsed around and then came back and had lunch and sat outside reading in the sun all afternoon.  Needless to say, we nodded off for an hour or so! LOL

I even managed to get a couple of quilting blocks cut out for the BOM for our guild.  I won't get around to getting them sewn in time to take to our next meeting on Wednesday but at least they are cut out.

Hubby and I walked all around the rv resort today and I took lots of photos to post.  The flower beds and hanging baskets are looking so beautiful.  I hope to get the photos posted later.

It has been another heavenly day! ;-)

Sunny but Cool

Another sunny day today although a bit on the cooler side.  Hubby and I are thoroughly enjoying being away in the rv and just relaxing.  After a lovely brunch and catching up on the week's episodes of Coronation Street, we headed into town for a little shopping.  The rest of the day we spent reading and going for a stroll around the rv resort.  We enjoyed a wonderful steak barbie this evening and are now settling down with a nice cuppa tea and a good movie.  Why can't I relax like this at home??? LOL

Tomorrow I am planning on taking lots of neat photos to post.

By the way, the kitties are just as relaxed as we are - if not more! LOL  What a life, eh?

The RV'ing Season Has Officially Begun ...

At last - after a long winter - we are back enjoying our first outing in our RV in Ferndale, WA at the Cedars.  What a nice spot this is.  I don't think there is a vacant site here with so many people having the same idea as us and getting away for the long weekend although Gerry will be here for 10 days and me for 3 weeks - enough time to get good and relaxed! LOL  We arrived last night and are now all settled in.

The weather today has been glorious ... first time for wearing shorts this year with temperatures in the low 70's.

We sat outside under the awning and read for awhile this afternoon and promptly nodded off!  LOL Tonight we are going to enjoy sockeye salmon on the barbie ... this is the life!

I will take some photos later and post here so that you can see how beautiful it is.

Hello Mr. Sun!

What a gorgeous day!  Yesterday was beautiful too and I took advantage of it by driving around town doing errands with the sunroof open and the sun beating down on me ... glorious!

I'm getting pretty excited for Friday to arrive as this will be our first trip out in the RV for the summer season.  We have books, movies, games and, of course, some wonderful beverages to quench the thirst! LOL

We are not heading too far out this time - just across the border into Ferndale Washington.  We are members of Holiday Trails and it is their Member's Appreciation Weekend while we are there which is always a lot of fun.  It will be great to get away from all the constant work around the house for 3 weeks and just relax.

I will be sure to post photos of us "camping" throughout the summer.  It is really anything but camping while we are in the rv as it is so comfortable but it gets a rise out of the kids when I say we are going "camping!" LOL

In the meantime, here are some wonderful memories captured in pictures from last summer ... no wonder the grandkiddies and kitties are all so excited!  Everyone has a great time ... "it's a good thing!" ;-)

Busy but Fun Times!

Haven't had much of a chance to post here for a few days as I have been kept pretty busy with grandkiddies and getting our house back in order after the new carpet installation.

This weekend we are enjoying having Emma and Lauryn stay with Nana and Poppa.  They love helping us around the house.  We had to take a whole truckload of things to the Sally Ann today and before we could get it unloaded, they were going through the boxes and had pulled out a couple of pictures I had cross-stitched and a raggedy doll I had had for years! LOL  They said they couldn't let them go!   Too funny!

Emma had a little birthday party to go to this afternoon and so Lauryn and Nana went to "Go Banana's" and then rented a movie for tonight - Nanny McPhee Returns - excellent movie, by the way, and then we brought home Chinese food for dinner.  It was nice for us to spend one-on-one time with little Lauryn - the grand-darlings usually come in pairs! LOL

These photos were taken today of Emma and Lauryn ... so darn cute!!

It's Starting to Take Shape!

We are into the second day of the installation of new carpeting throughout the house and we are loving the new look!  The furniture is everywhere ... anyone coming in right now would think we were perfect candidates for The Hoarders show!  What a mess!!!  Oh well, by Wednesday the carpeting will be all installed and then we can start getting the house back in order.  A good thing about ripping apart each room makes you re-evaluate each item before putting it back or in my case asking yourself "what the heck was I thinking of in the first place when I bought that and WHY on earth am I holding onto this?"  Major purging comin' up here and it will feel good to "minimalize!" ;-)

Quilting Day with the Gals.

Another great get together with our little quilting group today.  We call ourselves the Nine Patchers and really do have a lot of fun together.  We meet a couple of times a month taking turns in our other's homes and share not only wonderful new ideas with one another but find we always have something to laugh and smile about.

Here we all are with the exception of one of our gals who was sick today and, of course, I am taking the photo.  Great friends - super times!

I Can See You !!!!

Shhh .... Zoe is sleeping in Momma's scraps!!!

A Wonderful Mother's Day!

What a wonderful day I had with my family yesterday.  Unfortunately Deb couldn't join the rest of our family at our lovely Mother's Day dinner as her hubby and girls were taking her out on the town in Vancouver to celebrate her special day.  I did have a lovely chat with her in the morning and felt touched by her special words to me.

Daughter Jen put on a lovely dinner last night in my honour and I felt very loved and honoured indeed by Jennie, Traci, Dee Dee and Briggy and all of their families.  As you can see I was thoroughly spoiled with gorgeous flowers and wonderful cards.  The heartfelt sentiments my girls express in their cards is always a tear-jerker for me!

Look at these beautiful flowers - the smell is heavenly!  Yes ....... I am indeed blessed!

To Dream .....

Winter
This is Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire, England.  A wonderful event is going to take place on June 11th, 2011.  They are having their Open Day all day.  It is a Summer Craft Open Day featuring work by some of their well-known tutors/artists who represent a wide range of subjects in their summer school.  The day coincides with Open workshops displaying the work of City and Guild students on textile courses.  I would sooooo love to attend this ... wonder if hubby is reading this blog?? :-)  To dream ... will it be the "impossible" dream or ..... ???
