Sunny and COLD

Another cold day today in the 'burbs but so bright with the snow!  It really is quite lovely outside!

I have been enjoying a nice relaxing week this week and was able to make a good start on my next project - the Harvest Time Quilt.  I am really liking what I am seeing.

Today I have spent most of the day on the computer, cleaning up files and taking care of some matters for the guild.  It feels good to be able to see my desk again! LOL

I am off in a few moments to get Emmy and Lauryn from school.  Next Tuesday is little Lauryn's birthday - she will be turning a big 7 years old.  I was thinking if she would like to, that we go after school to pick out some nice birthday pressies from Nana and Poppa.

I have to give a big wave to Miss Holly ... thanks for your email, sweetie, I love hearing from you and a big smile for my dear buddy, Denise!

All for now .............. ;-)

A Winter Wonderland

How beautiful it looks outside!  We had about a 7" dumping of snow a couple of days ago and last night it snowed a little bit again ... a purrrrrfect day to stay indoors and quilt ... with the help of all the kitties, that is! ;-)

Momma and Baby ... inseparable!

Every day, baby Cheyenne gets a good cleaning from Momma ... they are so cute to watch!!

This was after such a bath from Momma and baby Cheyenne cuddling her Momma!  AHHHHH !

Friends

Friends are such a blessing!

Sometimes I get so caught up in the "behind the scenes" responsibilities of my position as Co-President within our quilters' guild that I forget what is really important in my life ... my family and friends.  I am reminded of that old saying - "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!"

Last night was my turn to play hostess to some wonderful friends.  We enjoyed one of the nicest evenings I can remember for a while.  We shared quilting secrets and tips and had a chance to appreciate each other's works in progress.  All this done over a cup of tea and homemadee English Cream Scones, which alone, were a big hit!

Yes, this is what life is about.  After receiving several thought-provoking emails over a period of 2-3 days, my husband turned to me the other day and said "you are taking this way too seriously, Carol, and care too much!"  Perhaps he was right!

If last night was proof of that, I have to learn to step back and as he says "not care so much" and enjoy the peace that will surely follow! ;-)

Cats, cats and more cats!

I love our kitties so much ... they make me smile!!!! ;-)

Oh ....... the life!

Always ready to help Momma in the office!

Now, are these kitties incoming or outgoing mail ????

More Fun and a Sleepover at Nana's

Last night was a special night as we got to enjoy our little Lauryn and Emmy stay overnight.  We always manage to have so much fun.

After I picked the girls up from school yesterday we went to buy skates for them as they start their second series of skating lessons on Monday.  They were so excited!

When we got home, we had a little tea party with "real" tea and cookies and the girls helped me prepare dinner - a nice roast chicken with stuffing and all the fixings.

After dinner was playtime with the kitties, crafts and a game of Wii.

I guess after their bath, the girls were so tired their eyes closed almost as soon as they jumped into bed.  More fun times to remember with the grandchildren ... have I mentioned before how much I LOVE being a Nana???? LOL

A Fun Day with the Nine Patchers!

Our little group met on Wednesday and were all together to share in the fun after Christmas holidays.  We are starting to work on a harvest time quilt all together which is proving quite amusing!

Here are some photos taken from our day together on Wednesday... we have some real hams in the crowd as you can see!  A terrific bunch of friends - we all get along so well together! ;-)

A Very Productive Day

I have had a busy but very productive day on the computer today composing and forwarding lots of mail on behalf of our guild.  It is a great feeling to know that all this has been taken care of!  It is at times like this especially that I so appreciate my Mac ...

Tomorrow is play day with the Nine Patchers.  Most of us are going to be working on a Harvest quilt made from all veggie and fruit fabric.  It will be fun to work on together and always lots of help if any of us get stuck on any of the instructions.

Off to bed now ... think I will sleep very well tonight! ;-)

Fun with the Munchkins

We are babysitting Emmy and Lauryn today while Mommy works and teachers are still out on Christmas holidays!

We have lots of fun things plannned with the kiddies.  They start up with level 2 of their skating lessons next Monday and Nana and Poppa are taking them out today to buy their new skates.  We rented the skates for them for their last skating lessons, not knowing if they would want to continue on with their lessons ...you can't stop them ... they are so gung-ho for next Monday to roll around!

I have checked the movies and there are quite a few good kiddie movies playing so will let the girls decide (hopefully they will agree) which movie matinee we will go to.  Needless to say, there will be popcorn involved!! LOL

Will post some photos of our fun day later.

Pineapple Quilt

Another one finished on the longarm ... think I have the stippling coming along pretty well ... still needs some tweaking, but getting there!

It's a New Day AND a New Year!

I can't explain why but I woke up this morning with this lovely poem running through my mind ... it started off with me remembering the last 3 lines but the rest of this poem is lovely and, of course, is brilliantly written as with everything else, by Robert Frost!

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
