A-Sailing-We-Will-Go

What a fun day my sweetie and I have enjoyed today!

This morning we drove into Blaine and took a tour of both of the Tall Ships docked there in Blaine Harbour -The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain.  This evening they offered a two hour sailing excursion which we eagerly booked and drove back to Blaine Harbour for.  While on the excursion, the crew demonstrated various manoevers - some quite scary like climbing up to the highest mast and laying across the beams to fasten the sails!  They put on a demonstration of firing the cannons too - wow - what an explosion!  The whole thing was so interesting!

This Tall Ship is only a replica, of course, and an excellent one at that.  The original vessel was built in the mid 1700's in the British colony of Massachusetts.  It was built to carry freight between the colonial ports.
What a great outing ... the only thing better would been to have had all the grandkiddies there to experience such a historical re-enactment!

More fun planned for tomorrow!

Here are a few great photos of our day today.
