Happy Birthday ... AGAIN ... Dear Austin!!

Yesterday was a lovely day with us getting together as a family to celebrate Austin's birthday, although we missed some family members who were out-of-town.

I think after an exciting birthday on the actual day, a bowling party with 17 school friends the day after and then our family celebration yesterday, our birthday boy has run the limit! LOL

Here are some photos from yesterday ... fun times!

Gardening Time!

Gerry and I have been outside for the best part of the day working in the front garden.  I'm a bit late with spring cleanup after being away in the rv.  Anyway we managed to get most of the weeding done and hedges all trimmed.  We will still have to go out there again tomorrow to put the finishing touches to the garden and head to the nursery to get our hanging baskets and flowers to plant.

It seems like all the neighbours had the same idea this afternoon and we ended up all getting together for an inpromtu beer in one of the neighbours garden after a tiring day of working outside.  A nice way for us all  to end a tiring day of gardening. ;-)

A Funny Story ...

Kowing it was my grandson's birthday coming up on June 10th (see post below), I asked him what he would like from Nana and Poppa.  On each of the eight grandchildren's birthdays we always give them either a gift certificate/cash or buy them whatever it is their little hearts desire in the amount of $100.

I asked Austin what he would like for his birthday and he replied that if we gave him the $100 cash and Mommy and Daddy gave him $100 cash and he took $50+ out of his own money, he could afford to buy an iPod Touch 4th Generation.  I asked him how badly he wanted one of these and he replied "Oh Nana, I want it with all my heart!" I asked him if he would be willing to have it now as a birthday/Christmas gift and he was jumping with glee saying yes.

Sooooooo, yesterday on his birthday Austin and Nana went to buy him his iPod.  He was absolutely over the moon - we threw in the extra money too as he is graduating from elementary school to middle school this year and is well on his way to becoming a very responsible young man!

Anyway, getting back to the story ...

When Austin went to bed the night before his birthday and knowing we were going to buy this gift for him the next day, he felt it necessary to have a little chat with his Mommy.  He told her that they were taught in school that sometimes elderly people don't know what things are really worth and they don't really appreciate money too much because they get senile!!! LOL  He, therefore, did not feel he could let us buy him this expensive gift.  My daughter had a hard time holding back the laughter she tells me and quickly told Austin that he really shouldn't worry about us and our money as we were going to be buying a newer and bigger rv.  His reply ... "oh well then ... that's ok!"

What a little ham he is!!!!!! LOL  Austin just celebrated his 11th birthday but this early photo of him speaks volumes!

Oh, and Happy Birthday Ozzy!!

Back Home Again!

I arrived back home on Thursday afternoon and my feet haven't touched the ground yet! LOL

Thursday afternoon I picked up two of my little granddaughters as I usually do and took them to see their cousin competing in the high jump.  I am so proud of Austin as he qualified with being the top kid in his school when competing in their track and field.  In doing so, he was able to choose 3 of his favourite events to compete in against the other elementary schools in Langley.

On Friday, Austin participated in the other two events of his choosing - the 100 metre race and the 400 metre relay.   Even though he didn't come in first with any of the events, he came away with lots of ribbons for various place standings and did very well indeed.  We are so very proud of him!  AND all of this done on his actual birthday with Mommy, Daddy, Nana and all of his school buddies there cheering him on!!

Well done my sweetheart - I was so happy to be able to spend your birthday with you ... YOU ARE A WINNER IN NANA'S EYES!

Time to Go Home!

I will be heading out tomorrow to go home after 3 very nice relaxing weeks here at Cedars.  It has been wonderful to relax the body and mind for these weeks.  The dayplanner back home is full of various commitments for the rest of June - meetings, babysitting and projects with deadlines on them for 2 weeks down the road.  It's all fun stuff !

Before you know it, I will be back in the rv and starting off another 3 weeks of fun in the sun!

Come on Canucks ... hockey is not supposed to be stressful, is it?? LOL

Henrietta

I worked on blocks 4 and 5 of the Henrietta BOM from Bunny Hill Designs this afternoon and am very pleased with how they have turned out.

The Rain is Back!

We have had some lovely sunny days lately but unfortunately the rain is back!  That means I will get some quilting done today ... I haven't been working on my "Henrietta" blocks so today is a great day for that.

I went to Joann's yesterday and bought some beautiful fabric to make up a sample for a class I am teaching.  I spent last night cutting it up and found to my dismay that I was short by a little bit.  So, off I went this morning to get some more ... I spent ages looking for it and was starting to believe that it had all been sold since yesterday!  One of the sales gals came to help me look for it and we found it ... phew!  Of course, it is impossible to walk out of that store with only what you went in for ! LOL

The rain is coming down now (I got back just in the nick of time) - it really does sound nice being in the rv and hearing the pitter patter of the rain and feeling toasty and warm inside.

Well, off to make a cup of tea and get some quilting done!

Another wonderful day in spite of the rain!  Life is what you make of it!
